Terrain: hilly roads.
First off today, I was treated to nature’s light show.
It’s at moments like this that I really appreciate what I am doing. And while there is a wider angle (that of raising funds for the plight of refugees through the Red Cross), I really do feel privileged to be in this position at times.
It’s funny actually, a couple of things have happened in the last few days that have really made me smile. I’ve received messages of support and offers of help from people I never expected to and one person in particular (linked to a past life). Feeling very honoured and content.
In terms of the route, it was a little on the hilly side today as the second installment of my videos suggests! (apologies for sound quality – there was some wind – and I don’t think you can really see the hills either, oh well!).
I made friends with animals along the way.
Feed time for the chickens.
Love cows.
Plus, I was really lucky with the weather. Just as I arrived in Saintes, the wind picked up and it started pouring down, phew!
In between downpours this afternoon, I managed to take a look around. Saintes is quite frankly beautiful.
It even has a Roman amphitheater dating back to 40-50 AD.
I always find it incredible to visit these places. I sat there and just imaged what must have gone on all those years ago, gladiators fighting to the death…life’s pretty easy these days!
Feeling lucky to be coming across such beautiful places.
