After months of preparation, I can’t quite believe it, but we’re flying to Berlin tomorrow to drive to the start line of my vivrunseurope challenge.  How time flies! Just can’t quite believe that a simple idea a few months ago is becoming reality!

From the corporate world with a flat in London to a life of simplicity. Me, my buggy and my few belongings, let’s see how I cope…a little nervous about this challenge I have set myself but at the same time incredibly exciting about taking on the unknown.

I’ve now become acquainted with my new friend Ironman Bob – see photo 😉 and packed.  Fortunately it all fits, happy days.

The first section of my challenge will be following in my Gran’s footsteps. After the second world war she was a refugee after escaping the Soviet invasion, under extremely challenging circumstances.

Tomorrow, we’ll go to Unieradz in Poland to see where my gran grew up (previously Neurese in Germany). We always had a sketch of the small church there on the wall of our family house. Seeing it in reality will be a special moment and one I’ll be so happy to share with my Mum who’s going to spend the first few days with me and who has never been there either. Feels like a bit of a pilgrimage and really looking forward to it.
