Last shop in Poland – clearly cigarettes are cheaper there

Signs leaving and entering Germany were quite amusing

Leaving Poland – horse-drawn carriages?!

Entering Germany – didn’t see any unfortunately

Avoided sand today even at the expense of taking a longer route, lesson learnt there, especially as during the experience yesterday I was quite literally eaten alive my Mosquitos, eugh.

In this area of Germany, there is an amazing network of cycle paths, paved and through beautiful forest and landscape and quite flat, very useful for me. Perhaps a little easy for those who like the alps but it’s always an option.

Also came across this little stall, trusting everyone to leave payment in the money box. Made me smile, not something you’d see in London.

While I’m aware of how slow I’m going relative to other transport options, it’s genuinely nice to live ‘slow’ for a while and take my time. There is an immense sense of freedom that busy modern day life kinds of takes away really.

Usedom where I arrived is lovely. A pretty little German town with lots of different colored houses.

Liked this letter box. In fact my photographer friend Debbie Castro suggests that I find something to repeat wherever I go, this may be it but not sure yet, suggestions are welcome though. Letter box could quickly become boring!

Also bumped into this chap, Adam, while we were both looking at the local map. Turns out he’s driving around Germany on a little Honda 50cc motorbike. He has a powerful bike at home but wanted the experience of going slow. His life philosophy is: “the indirect way is always the best way” something to think about…

Then had my first obligatory Kaffee und Kuchen 🙂
